Carol Ann Schrunk

February 23, 1952 — April 4, 2024

Carol Ann Schrunk (Schroeder) It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carol Ann Schrunk (Schroeder), who peacefully left this world on April 4, 2024, at her home in Omaha, Nebraska, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family.

Carol was born on February 23, 1952, in Waverly, Iowa, to Lawrence and Laura Schroeder. From an early age, Carol’s life was a testament to unwavering love, kindness, and devotion. She graduated 3rd in her high school class, a testament to her dedication and hard work, and went on to earn Summa Cum Laude honors from the University of Iowa in Social Work, driven by her deep desire to help others.

Together with her husband, Paul Schrunk, Carol became the devoted mother to Megan Schrunk (deceased), Kerry Taylor-Schrunk (deceased), Erin Schrunk, and Lauren Moheng-Schrunk. Her treasured grandchildren brought immense joy to her life: Baillee Sonora, Gabriel Gonzales, Adelae Moheng, Oliver Moheng, and Eloise Moheng. Her siblings, Cathy, Calvin, Carl, and Craig, along with numerous nieces and nephews, held a special place in her heart.

Her career was marked by a dedication to helping others: working as a social worker, daycare owner, team lead at Target, and co-owner of the family business. Carol's open and welcoming heart was a beacon of hope and kindness, always extending a helping hand to those in need.

Carol's passions were simple yet profound. She found joy in reading, gardening, spending time with her beloved family, caring for animals, watching TV, and searching for a good deal.

A service to celebrate Carol's beautiful life will be held on July 6, in the afternoon, at the bi-annual Family Reunion in Toulon, Illinois. All who knew her are welcome to join in honoring her memory. Carol's memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her warmth, compassion, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love will continue to inspire us all.
