Patricia Marie (Hess) Travis

January 16, 1946 — January 21, 2024

Pat was fiercely independent and strongly opinionated. She also had a huge heart and an inquisitive mind that she shared with her family, friends, and students. Growing up in Omaha, NE she attended St. Bernard’s Grade School and Marian High School constantly active in different groups and sharing her musical talents. She became a Servant of Mary and taught in various places in the USA while and after completing her B.A. in Music Education. She always had a very special place for the mountains, so after leaving religious life she moved to Colorado and taught there while enjoying some of her best years. She married Paul Ralph Travis - born and raised in Colorado - and had two sons with him. While raising Andrew and Mark, she received her M.A. in Theology from Creighton University and enjoyed 35 years teaching religion at Marian High School. Her true friends were her 6 dogs that she loved throughout her adult life. She also loved to travel and was able to visit 8 countries in Europe, China, and Israel. Due to many medical complications, Patricia died peacefully on January 21, 2024 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE. She is survived by her sons, Andrew Travis, NYC and Mark (Tamara) Travis, Elko, NV; two sisters, Sister Linda Hess, OSM, Omaha and Julie (Bob) Taylor, Omaha, and three brothers, Bill (Diane) Hess, Omaha, Jon (Sandy) Hess, Terra Alta, WV and Jim (Kim) Hess, Cheyenne, WY.  There are three grandchildren - Liam, Durin, and Nellas - and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be on January 27, 2024 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, with Visitation at 10:00 AM and the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM.
