Rebecca Lynn Cohen

February 17, 1952 — December 31, 2023

Rebecca (Becky) L Cohen passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 31, 2023 after a two-year battle with glioblastoma, with her husband, Howard, daughter, Jen, and son, Eric, by her side.

Becky was preceded in death by her mother, Ira Garrison; father, Ernest Garrison; and sisters, Connie (Walker) and Kathy (Young) of San Diego, CA. She is survived by her husband, Howard Cohen; daughter, Jennifer (Sara) Cohen; son, Eric (Nissa) Cohen; brother, Mike (Carol) Garrison; sister, Debbie (Danny) Silva; and grandchildren, Maddox, Griffin, Parker, Paxton, and Cameron Cohen.

Becky was born in Amarillo, Texas, but moved to San Diego, California as a child. She graduated from Mt Miguel High School in 1970 with her diploma and her licensed vocational nurse license (LVN). She continued her nursing education by enrolling in a Registered Nurse program at Creighton University. As an RN, she accepted a commission in the Air Force. After her service, Becky received a Master’s degree in Nursing from Clarkson College and worked in CCU and ICU at several Omaha area hospitals. She finished her nursing career as a Nursing instructor at Iowa Western Community College, where she positively impacted hundreds of future nurses. She is survived by loving life-long friends, colleagues, nursing students, and family.

Becky’s greatest happiness was being with her grandkids. She frequently talked about her pride in them; they brought her immense joy.
